Announcement - CIPP/US Training Collaboration with Deborah Howitt
Privacy SWAN Consulting and Deborah Howitt are pleased to announce that they are collaborating to offer the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) CIPP/US training program. These trainings are structured to provide the body of knowledge required to obtain the IAPP’s CIPP/US certification.
Upcoming trainings:
Two CIPP/US training programs are currently scheduled, but more can be added if there is sufficient demand:
· May 14-15: Live online training, with possible in-person training at 1801 California Street, Denver, CO 80202 (decision re: in-person training to be made by May 8).
· September 24-25: In-person training (downtown Denver); live online training also available.
· Private training programs are available as well, tailored to your group or company.

About the trainers:
Deborah is an attorney practicing data privacy/security, technology, IP transactions, and digital marketing law with Lewis Bess Williams & Weese. She has taught Data Privacy Law as an adjunct professor at both the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law and previously at the University of Colorado School of Law. She has taught CLE, CPE and other courses, and presented at numerous conferences, on the subject of data privacy/security compliance for various functional roles (such as marketing, HR, management, finance, legal), and tailored to various industries (including hospitality, education, oil & gas, entertainment, non-profit organizations, and others). She is passionate about teaching data privacy compliance, and helping her clients navigate the complex legal requirements related to data privacy and security. Deborah is licensed to practice law in both Colorado and California, and has held the CIPP/US certification since 2015. She is currently a Co-Chair of the Colorado Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and former Co-Chair of the Denver IAPP chapter.
Janelle is a trusted advisor for strategic and tactical decision making within organizations of all sizes. She has been focused on the field of privacy since 2015 and brings a diverse background with strong leadership, technical, and business skills spanning 20 years in the areas of data privacy, project management, IT, security, data governance, and process improvement. Her unique perspective regarding how to integrate privacy with security and technology helps companies operationalize their privacy requirements. Her passion is creating comprehensive and tailored data governance programs for SMBs, which blends the security, privacy, and risk disciplines. She holds the following certifications CIPM, CIPT, CIPP/US/E, CISA, PMP, and GSLC and is a member of the following associations: International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Faculty Trainer, Information System Security Association (ISSA) as the National Privacy Special Interest Group CO-Chair, Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Colorado Board of Directors, Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) member, and Project Management Institute (PMI) member.
