CSA Denver: Time to Adopt PETs
Abstract: This presentation will explain how security engineers can implement Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET). PETs are typically referred to as technical solutions for achieving data privacy goals. As more and more data is collected on people, the use of technology to help protect people’s privacy is essential. Being on the front lines with a common goal to protect data, security professionals are in a great position to help champion and deploy these solutions. Plus with tight budgets and security and privacy growing more interdependent, we’ll explore how to bring the two areas together through technical solutions.
Key Learning Objectives:
Define Strategic Privacy by Design and how to use PETs
Describe and demonstrate the harms that could come to an individual and/or business when data is misused
Provide real-world examples of ways to implement technical controls for data privacy protection
