Privacy impact assessments are a cornerstone of robust privacy compliance frameworks and an important part of a mature privacy program. PIAs proactively equip companies and institutions with an understanding of data processing and privacy impacts as well as possible remediation. Mandatory in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, the EU and other regions, PIAs are non-negotiable in an increasing number of jurisdictions for high-risk processing activities (potentially harmful impacts to the individual). Several jurisdictions require formal assessments on artificial intelligence AI, machine learning, or automated decision-making products. Delving into the essentials of PIAs, this workshop offers insights from experienced practitioners which will support refining attendees’ approaches and aligning them with regulatory requisites. Join this immersive and interactive workshop that traverses the intricate landscape of PIAs. Equip yourself with the tools and insights needed to tailor a PIA to your company's or institution's unique identity with regulatory mandates and business expectations.

What you will learn:

  • Understand the pivotal role of PIAs within your institution's privacy framework and risk mitigation strategy and hear suggestions on how to integrate them into existing workflows.

  • Identify the nuances of regulations that mandate specific content in PIAs and for specific uses such as AI, identifying when and if to integrate assessments into existing processes (as exemplified by the EU, Colorado and state legislation).

  • Consider AI assessment models and their alignment with more generic PIAs.

  • Gain unprecedented access to peer-driven strategies in the design, execution, and management of PIAs while sharing workable strategies in establishing a PIA framework.

  • Understand how PIAs can effectively align with activities such as marketing, AI development, and system development.
